Value libraries

Gives my children a sense of responsibility to look after the books and teaches respect. Be good to give pupils lessons on how to search for books and how many categories/topics are out there. Makes them explore.

Why the contribution is important

Libraries are so ingrained in communities but offer so much for kids to learn, not just books but behavioural.

Books, for free, that you don't have to find house space for after you have finished reading them! Great, but why don't more of us use our libraries?

Our local library has great story sessions for the little ones, various themed activities for primary aged children but are struggling to get secondary pupils/teenagers into the branches.

Should more emphasis be put on the importance of continuing to read while in education?
Should time be spent in school teaching pupils about all of the resources that are available to them through their local library, which will not only help them with school studies but in many other aspects of their life?

Also agree that a library is a great place to socialise with other members of the community that you might otherwise never meet, which can only be a benefit to us all.
