Dentist & Optician Appointments at Schools

Dentists and opticians should visit remote schools for check-up visits like they used to.

Why the contribution is important

Parents and families in more rural areas can find it difficult and expensive to travel to and from dentist and opticians appointments, due to the infrequency of bus and train services.

This would remove the need for parents and caregivers to take the children to their appointments during school hours and ensure that children don't miss their regular dental and eyesight check-ups and tests.

So much time is needed to take my daughter to the orthodontist in Aberdeen (40 miles away) for a 5 minute appointment to tighten her braces.
Couldn't pop-up surgeries be provided for the simple procedures as I know that many others in the academy take time off, with many making a day out of it which is understandable after having to deal with the traffic and parking challenges. So much missed teaching time!
